Dandruff has gone from embarrassing affliction to sexy scalp condition with the announcement that F1 icon Jenson Button is the new ambassador for showertime staple, Head & Shoulders. Fast becoming one of the world's best recognised sports stars, he's dodged the usual slew of fragrance endorsements for something a little more credible, saying he relies on the anti-flake formula whether "trackside or in a tux". From the pheromone-infused fragrance that promises more nookie to the moisturiser that claims it can turn back time, questionable marketing tactics and hyperbole often take precedence over scientific facts in the men’s grooming industry.

After seven years as a Health & Grooming Editor for men’s titles including Arena, FHM, Shortlist, GQ Style and Attitude, I decided to start blogging about the reality of a burgeoning commerce: the good, the bad and, frankly, the rather ridiculous.

The Exfoliator is a no-nonsense guide to men’s grooming, cutting through industry hype to give readers the unadulterated facts on active ingredients, product performance and value for money.

As such, I do not respond to PR pitches for this blog. The Exfoliator is intended as an antidote to all the product placement that appears in print press and elsewhere on the web. I will respectfully refuse samples intended for coverage on this site. I will not participate in advertorials, 'takeovers' or campaigns of any kind and ask that PRs observe this boundary.
